Slackware Based Distro's

Absolute Linux - is a light-weight modification of Slackware Linux.

Austrumi - A business card size (50MB) bootable live CD Linux distribution developed by Latvian programmers.

BasicLinux - is a mini-Linux designed specifically for old PCs. latest version based on Slackware.

Bluewhite64 Linux - is an unofficial port of Slackware Linux to the AMD64 architecture.

Buffalo Linux - is a derivative distribution based on Vector and Slackware. It is targeted at the small business workstation market.

Burapha Linux - Server is a free Linux distribution. It is a descendant of Burapha Linux 5.5, which in turn was a descendant of Slackware 10.x. Burapha Linux Server does not have any packages taken directly from Slackware.

DARKSTAR - Linux is a Romanian Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux.

Draco GNU/Linux - is a distribution based on Slackware Linux and pkgsrc, a package management system developed by NetBSD.

easys GNU/Linux - Slackware based enterprise Desktop equipped with KDE.

Kwort Linux - is a Slackware-based Linux distribution that uses the GTK+ toolkit and Xfce desktop. Its most prominent feature is a package manager, called kpkg, for retrieving packages from download mirrors.

Phrealon - is a bootable Linux CD based on Slackware Linux 8.0 designed to allow the easy imaging of multiple workstations.

Plamo Linux - A Japanese Linux distribution designed for reliability and simplicity.

pQui Linux - is a Brazilian desktop-oriented distribution based on Slackware Linux.

Recovery - Is Possible (RIP) is a Slackware-based CD or floppy boot/rescue/backup/maintenance system.

Rubix - is a Linux distribution forked from Slackware Linux. It differs from its parent in that Rubix uses Arch Linux's 'pacman' for simplified package management with dependency resolution and it has a completely revamped init system, maintaining the BSD style, but adding modularity.

Slack/390 - is the official port of Slackware® Linux to the IBM mainfme platform. It is intended to be a maintained, Free/Libre, and free (no charge) Linux/390 distribution. Slack/390 is kept as close as possible to the Intel Slackware distribution,

Slackintosh - An unofficial port of Slackware to the PowerPC architecture.

Slamd64 - An unofficial port of Slackware to the x86-64 architecture.

SLAX - A very popular live CD which aims to provide a complete desktop for general use. Permanent installation of SLAX is not recommended or supported, it is designed for "live" use only.

Splack - An unofficial port of Slackware to the SPARC architecture. Last version is 10.2.

STUX GNU/Linux - is a Linux system that runs from a CD-ROM; STUX can automatically load and save main configuration and personal files on a writable partition. It is based on Slackware Linux.

SuperGamer - is a live DVD with lots of games. All Games are Linux Native. It was originally based on PCLinuxOS, but the latest version (SuperGamer-VL) is based on VectorLinux. A test release of SuperGamer-VL was announced.

Tkfp Live - started out as a bootable CD with Slackware 9.0, the WindowMaker window manager, and Tkfp. Tkfp is an electronic medical record information system suitable for a solo or small group Physician's office for storing clinical information on patients.

Topologilinux - Designed to run from within Microsoft Windows, can be installed without any changes to the user's hard disk.

Truva Linux - is a Turkish distribution based on Slackware Linux.

Ultima Linux - is a Slackware-based Linux distribution designed to be easy-to-install and use. It includes an automatic update tool called "ulupdate", which greatly simplifies keeping the system up-to-date with the latest software.

Vector Linux - A lightweight distribution designed to be easy to use even for new users. Generally considered well suited for older hardware.

Voltalinux - is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux and the pkgsrc package system from NetBSD.

WinSlack - is a basic Linux install with KDE and Star Office. It requires no logon, and gives you a desktop environment similar to that other leading PC GUI, it also has supermount compiled into the kernel so that CD-ROM's and floppies are automatically mounted and unmounted. You can also format floppies from the desktop. Upon exiting the X session, the machine will shutdown. It is based primarily on Slackware 7.1 with some modifications.

Zenwalk Linux - Originally a minimal version of Slackware, Zenwalk has evolved into a very different operating system; however, compatibility with Slackware is still maintained.

Zeus Linux - is a Greek Linux distribution based on Slackware Linux. It includes many fixes, such as remaking init scripts, new precompiled kernels for workstation machines,

ZipSlack is a special edition of Slackware Linux that can be installed onto any FAT (or FAT32)filesystem with about 100 MB of free space. It uses the UMSDOS filesystem and contains most of the programs you will need.

SLAX Based distro's infomation

AliXe - is a SLAX-based, desktop-oriented live CD with the goal of promoting Linux among the French-speaking public of the Québec province in Canada.

Arudius - An information assurance suite that includes many vulnerability assessment utilities and source code auditing tools.

BackTrack - A network security suite developed by RemoteExploit.org. It includes many penetration testing utilities and development tools. While BackTrack is principally used as a live CD, it can also be installed permanently.

DNALinux - A small distribution designed for running bioinformatics software, including BLAST and EMBOSS.

The Gnu-HALO project - started out as BSD-HALO before switching to the L4Linux 2.6 kernel. The initial build was based on SLAX Standard Edition.

Klax Live-CD - is a Linux live CD based on Slackware Linux and SLAX.

LG3D LiveCD - is a bootable Linux CD incorporating the Project Looking Glass, a Java-based technology that attempts to bring a richer user experience to the desktop and applications via 3D windowing and visualisation capabilities. An open source development project evolved from Sun Microsystems' Advanced Development division, the LG3D live CD is based on SLAX.

SLAMPP - Designed to be used on a home server.

TumiX GNU/Linux - is a Peruvian Linux distribution based on Slackware and SLAX.

Wolvix - is a GNU/Linux live CD built from SLAX. It's a desktop oriented distribution made to fit the needs from regular to advanced desktop users.

Non-Slackware Comparable Distro's
 

BRaiLleSPEAK - is a Braille and Speech oriented mini-distribution of Linux for the visually impaired. Support for English, French, Italian and Dutch (Netherlands). Initial version was based on Slackware. is Debian-based.

College Linux - is Slackware or not that is the question. Some claim it is Debian based while others dis agree.

CRUX - is a lightweight, i686-optimized Linux distribution targeted at experienced Linux users.

DragonLinux - is discontinued supports Slackware v7.1 packages, and contains limited support for RPM packages. Other packages are available from both Linux Mafia and the Slackware FTP Site.

KateOS - is an independently developed light-weight Linux distribution. Some of its concepts were derived from Slackware Linux.

Puppy Linux has been built from scratch, file-by-file, and is not based on any other Linux distribution. Also supports installing Slackware packages.

When all things are tested they shall not fail.
